Description:

The job: One of the UK’s leading international higher education/academic publishers and  one of the largest academic publishers globally is looking for a Reference Systems Controller [ELT]. Reporting to the Reference Systems Manager the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting reference product development and the maintenance of the dictionary and corpus systems. They will primarily be involved in the delivery of dictionary content for a wide range of purposes, either processing XML data directly, or co-ordinating with external suppliers. Responsibility for system training and upgrades is also part of the role.



The person: Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline candidates, will need in-depth knowledge of XML and XSLT, ideally with a minimum of a year’s professional experience. ELT experience would be an added advantage. Candidates will need a natural facility with IT systems and an interest in dictionaries and the dictionary production process, along with experience of writing in scripting languages such as Perl or Python, although training in specialist areas would be given to promising candidate who met the other criteria  Skilled use of HTML, SQL, CSS and experience of linguistics or lexicography are also highly desirable. The role will suit a self motivated and fast learning individual who is highly organised, with excellent attention to detail.



Salary: c. £23 – 25k
